Unit 1 Lesson 2 - In this lesson I work examples of integer addition, the distributive property, and using PEMDAS to simplify a mathematical expression.
Unit 1 Lesson 3 - In this lesson I demonstrate how to solve 1 and 2 step equations, and equations with x on both sides.
Unit 1 Lesson 4 - In this lesson I explain what a function is. I then demonstrate how to evaluate a function for a given value, complete a t-table, how to write a function rule for a word problem, and how to write a linear function given a set of points.
Unit 1 Lesson 5 - In this lesson I demonstrate how to solve a system of equation by substitution and by elimination.
Unit 2 Lesson 1 - In this lesson I review what an exponent is. I then explore the meaning of a zero exponent and a negative exponent. Finally, I demonstrate with a couple examples, how to work with each of them.
Unit 2 Lesson 2 - In this lesson I explain what scientific notation is and why it is useful. I demonstrate how to convert between scientific and standard notation and how to compare numbers written in scientific notation.
Unit 2 Lesson 3 - In this lesson I explain how we arrive at the product of powers rule. I then demonstrate how to multiply two powers with the same base using multiple examples.
Unit 2 Lesson 4 - In this lesson I explain the power of powers rule and the power of a product rule. I work several examples, including on that uses both rules.
Unit 2 Lesson 6 - In this lesson I explain the quotient of powers rule and the power of a quotient rule, by expanding and simplifying and then describe the shortcuts in each case. Several examples of each are worked.
Unit 2 Lesson 7 - In this lesson I explain what an exponential function is, explain its parts and how to graph it by identifying the start value and the multiplier. I briefly demonstrate the interest formula.
Unit 2 Lesson 8 - In this lesson I model two towns, Boom Town and Shrink Town. I demonstrate the process for modelling exponential growth and exponential decay and graph them in Desmos.
Unit 3 Lesson 1 - In this lesson I demonstrate what polynomials are and define monomial, binomial, trinomial, degree and order. I then demonstrate how to add and subtract polynomials.
Unit 3 Lesson 2 - In this lesson I demonstrate how to multiply a monomial by a trinomial. I then demonstrate two techniques for factoring the greatest common factor from a trinomial.
Unit 3 Lesson 3 - In this lesson I demonstrate how to multiply a binomial by a binomial and how to multiply a binomial by a trinomial.
Unit 3 Lesson 4 - In this lesson I explore the patterns that emerge when multiplying out (x + a)^2 and the patterns that emerge when multiplying (x + a)(x - a).
Unit 3 Lesson 6 - In this lesson I demonstrate how to factor trinomials in the form x^2 + bx + c.
Unit 3 Lesson 7 - In this lesson I demonstrate how to factor trinomials in the form ax^2 + bx + c.
Unit 3 Lesson 8 - In this lesson I demonstrate how to factor special cases, including the difference of squares and the perfect square.
