Portfolios are longer assignments (They should take about an hour.) that need to be submitted in a drop box in the lesson. They may be done on paper and then a picture may be taken of the paper and the picture may be submitted (If you don't have a camera, use the Camera app on your laptop.), or may be done using a computer program such as Word, Excel, or AutoDesk Sketchbook. Look here for special instructions and help files and video recordings.
Unit 2 - Data Analysis
In this assignment we perform three tasks. We create a histogram of mail received over the period of a week. We analyze the weights of a variety of dog breeds. And we create a box-and-whisker plot for Annapolis, Maryland's monthly high temperatures. The examples in the recording are examples only. Please do not use the numbers I used. Create your own data and use that.
Unit 3 - Rational Expressions and Functions
The three tasks in this portfolio are: (1) examine the ratio between surface area and volume for a rectangular prism (box), (2) Examine the contribution of an individual worker to the time it takes to complete a project, (3) Explore the inverse relationship between cost per bowler and the number of guests you can invite to a party. Watch the video below for examples. Please do not use the numbers or data that I use, but create your own, calculating your own results.
