Portfolios are longer assignments (They should take about an hour.) that need to be submitted in a drop box in the lesson. They may be done on paper and then a picture may be taken of the paper and the picture may be submitted (If you don't have a camera, use the Camera app on your laptop.), or may be done using a computer program such as Word, Excel, or AutoDesk Sketchbook. Look here for special instructions and help files and video recordings.
Unit 4 Constructions
|
IEP/504 Reduced AssignmentIf you have a course accommodation for reduced portfolio assignments, you may submit just the Parallel Through a Point construction (the 4th video). Do the construction with compass and straight edge on paper and submit a picture of your work.

Do each of the four above constructions on paper with compass and straight edge, or in AutoDesk Sketchbook. Then do a fifth construction in which you create a design that uses all four constructions at least once. Be sure to not erase any of your construction marks. Submit the document or documents in the drop box.
Unit 5 - Transformations - Personal Logo PortfolioThe Unit 5 portfolio explores the concept of transformation and the types of symmetry that arise from them: translation, reflection, rotation and dilation. In this portfolio you are to create a table of the four types of transformations, find a company logo that demonstrates each of them, and briefly explain how that logo demonstrates that transformation. Second, you are to create a logo of your own, using at least two types of transformations. Then write a paragraph explaining your logo, how it demonstrates the transformations you have chosen, and another paragraph reflecting on the good and bad of your design. In the video below, I demonstrate and explain these steps.

IEP/504 Reduced AssignmentThose with a reduced portfolio accommodation may submit the table of transformations and may leave off the personal logo drawing.

Unit 6 - Congruent TrianglesThe Unit 6 portfolio explores triangle congruence. Particularly, it verifies or confirms the SSS, SAS, ASA and HL postulates of congruent triangles. In the videos below, we explore these four postulates in Geogebra. Click on the link to go to the Website, or type geogebra.org in a browser. For this portfolio, pick two of the constructions in the video. When you have completed the construction, take a screen shot, using the Snip tool in Windows of your completed triangles. Save the Snips as image files, jpg works well, and submit them in the drop box. You may also go above and beyond and do all four. I certainly had fun making them.
