Portfolios are extended assignments done on paper or in computer programs such as Word or Excel. If done on paper, you will want to take a picture of your work and submit that in the drop box. If done on the computer, it may be submitted as a computer file that way. There are several portfolio assignments, and I often change the requirements of the assignments and provide help. So, whenever you have a portfolio assignment, be sure to check here before beginning to work.

Unit 5 - Car WheelWhat happens to the number of rotations a tire makes when you change the size of the tire? Who takes more steps or strides in a race, a man with long legs, or a man with short legs? These are examples of inverse proportions. In this video I explain how to complete the Car Wheel portfolio. Do remember to use different numbers than I do. Also remember to show all work as I do.

Unit 6 - Cereal Box DesignYour assignment is to find the volume of a standard cereal box and then calculate the surface area and the cost of the cardboard, if cardboard costs $0.05 per square inch. You are then asked to find the surface area of another design that holds the same amount of cereal. In this video, I calculate the surface area of a sphere. You may use a sphere, cylinder, cone, pyramid, or cube, but do not use another rectangular prism. Also, use different original dimensions than I use in the video, as I want the calculations to be yours.
