Portfolios are a significant part of this course. They are used to help make sense of the topics presented and help students to see the big picture, the eagle's view, so to speak. So, care should be taken to be thorough. They are not short, and should take a couple hours each. Unit 2, in it's entirety, is a portfolio assignment.
Unit 2 Analyzing a Study: Valid or Not?
The assignment is on slide 2 of Lesson 1. Look to the bottom right of the page, you will see that the document is actually 17 pages long. This portfolio takes you through the five steps used in examining a study.
- Identify the purpose of the study.
- Analyze the study (who, what, when, where, how?).
- Examine the data and any calculated statistics.
- Draw your conclusions.
- Report on your findings so others may understand it.
Unit 6 - Choices
The Unit 6 portfolio focusses on the concept of using random numbers systematically to make choices without conscious or unconscious bias. Note that you will need to go to slide 2 of the lesson and then toggle through the 17 slide pages on the bottom right of the screen in that lesson. Also note, you need to download the three documents in slide 1 of the lesson: RNG Tables, Appendix A, and the lesson Worksheet. I recommend printing out the worksheet, though you may certainly edit it in Word as well. Watch the video below for guidelines on completing this portfolio assignment. Do note, you may not use Table 2 or Table 7 in your calculations, as those are used in the Video and in the examples in the lesson.
